Travel

Montréal, Canada

Venue Directions

Our venue is called “Belvédère du Centre des Sciences” and is located in the heart of the Old Port of Montreal, connected to the Montreal Science Museum.

We highly recommend walking, taking public transport, or catching a taxi/Uber to the wedding if possible.

We created a map of useful information for those who are visiting Montreal for the first time (neighbourhoods, metro lines, attractions). We also included some of our favorites places as well (parks, bakery, restaurants, brunch, bars), for those who want to explore our city.

Where to Stay

AIRBNBs

Airbnbs are becoming less and less available in Montreal due to local government regulations. We highly recommend only choosing Airbnbs that are very well reviewed and are registered with the local government (needs a CITQ number), if you have any doubts, reach out to us and we can help you decide if its a good location to stay or not.

Here are some neighbourhoods we recommend to stay in, you can see their location in the map below:

  • Le Plateau Mont-Royal (Tara lived here for her first 2 years in Montreal)

  • La Petite-Patrie/Little Italy (our old neighbourhood)

  • Villeray (our current neighbourhood)

HOTELS

Most hotels in Montreal are located downtown or in Old Montreal. Old Montreal has a cute European feel and is also very well located to the venue, however it is also one of the most touristy and expensive parts of towns. If you decide to stay down there, we highly recommend taking time to explore the vibrant neighbourhoods of Montreal (we’ve recommended some of favourites on the map above). Everything is a quick metro or Bixi ride away!

What to Do

We tried to curate a non-exhaustive list of places we like to visit to have a good time in our wonderful city and we put that into the map above. For those who will not be staying long in town, we tried to distill even more that list down here. Do not hesitate to ask us for additional pointers.

EAT

We listed some of our favorite restaurants in the map, but here is our short list for you :

  • Casavant (our neighboors)

  • Vin Mon Lapin (restaurant #1 in Canada in 2023, 2024: you need to book in advance)

  • L’Express (classic French bistro)

Go to a boulangerie to buy bread and viennoiseries

  • Do not forget to try bagels (and try to settle which is best between Fairmount or St-Viateur Bagels)

And of course, some of our favorite Montréal snack bar classics (for first timers in Mtl):

  • Poutine (La Banquise for late night)

  • Smoked meat (Schwartz’s)

  • Steamie (steamé) all-dressed

  • Portuguese chicken
